In this session we looked at the compelling reasons to exercise and keep your brains fit... then we looked at some of the many games available for computers and smart devices. The session notes include some of the games we have found particularly useful in keeping our minds active. If you have any suggestions or other related games you have found, please share them with the group.
Many thanks to those of you that attended the Technology and Travel session at Bentley Park. We introduced some of the tried and tested sites we have used to research, review and book flights and accommodation online... Incuding: Trip Advisor, Expedia, Momondo, Sky Scanner, Webjet, Seat Guru, Jetabroad, Rome2Rio, Airbnb, CouchSurfing. We were all particularly impressed by the Goggle Translate demo on the iPad. We also covered which Apps to take with you, free WiFi options, data backup, phone plans, credit cards, passwords and more. There's a lot to be gained by understanding and organising your own travel plans. A copy of the session notes is available on the Past Event 2015 page.
What a great way to follow-up on the IT & Travel Session last month. We covered taking photos with iPhone/iPad, Android (in various flavours) and Windows Phone. Although you can just point and shoot, there's so much more to gain by understanding the little tricks when taking photos with smartphones.
There are a heap of pre and post processing options that can bring your photos alive. We had a play with SnapSeed - an awesome editing app for iPhone, Android and Windows Phone. We also looked at lenses which you can clip onto your devices and how to mount phones onto tripods using a universal selfie stick mount. Some of my favourite tips are in the session notes which you can download from the Past Events 2015 page. Great session at Morley last night and the room was overflowing yet again!
There was considerable interest in organising your own travel plans and we explored many of the online options for researching, comparing and booking travel arrangements including various types of accommodation and restaurant choices. The notes for the session are available in the Free Events -> Past Events 2015 tab on our website. |
